While Governor Martin O’Malley expresses concern about the sequester causing “job killing cuts”, he’s working to implement legislation that not only infringes on our second amendment rights but will put a family owned business with a 500 year history out of Maryland.
Beretta USA recently invested more than one million dollars in a machine that would produce a civilian version of a machine gun designed for special operations forces. The plan was to expand the plant in Prince George’s county and to increase production. However, under SB 281, which advanced out of a Senate committee, the gun would be illegal in the state where it is produced. Ironically, Beretta’s 9mm pistol, which is widely used by our own United States military and many police officers, would also fall under the ban because of it’s 13 bullet magazine.
