I.Love.This.Ad! I adore it, simply adore it. Kudos to you Lisa Schiffren! Yes, I laughed at the end, because it was hilarious. But in all seriousness, this is the vibe I’m getting.
I work at a University so as a conservative, I’m definitely in the minority. With that said, I have had the opportunity to develop friendships and have enlightening and stimulating conversations with many of my liberal friends. As much as they hate to admit it, that element in this ad is real. They may feel a sense of betrayal by expressing their disappointment with ‘The Anointed One‘, but it’s there nonetheless. I think this is why our GOTV efforts are so critical, and why I will be on the phone all weekend long.
This election without a doubt, will be won by appealing to the middle, to the soft Repub’s and Dem’s, and the independents. We need to make sure we’re listening empathetically at their disillusionment, while still encouraging them that we need real change, we need a true leader in office, and the fact that Romney has been hugely successful in the business world is not a negative, but very positive. As with the ending of any ‘relationship’, we need to be prepared to ‘console’ them, yet encourage them to move on to something better!
