In some news from ‘the other side’, Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot has announced he won’t pursue the Governor’s seat in 2014. Maryland Juice has the story.
A Maryland Juice source just forwarded us an earth-shattering email blast from Comptroller Peter Franchot. In an announcement this morning, Franchot tells supporters he will not be running for Governor of Maryland in 2014. This may keep a few people out of the 2014 Comptroller’s race, as I assume some would-be candidates will not want to take on an incumbent from the same party.
Meanwhile, this may have unpredictable affects on the Democratic Primary for Governor. So far, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, Attorney General Doug Ganser, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman and Delegate Heather Mizeur are still eyeing the race. But this reduces the number of Montgomery County candidates from three to two, which I imagine isn’t completely insignificant.
As Franchot was seen as one of the top contenders, it will be interesting to see how the race develops and I for one, will be keeping a close eye on it, along with several of my fellow Marylanders. Sometime ago, I wrote an article summarizing my experience at a War on Women rally in Easton, MD. That was my first experience with Delegate Heather Mizeur and it was quite unforgettable. I still can’t fathom her remarks expressing how our education system would be improved by getting rid of unwanted pregnancies. I said then, and I say again now, I will wholeheartedly work for her opponent, should she decide to step into the race. I can’t fathom that woman running my state, I truly can’t, and before the trolls attack, it has nothing to do with her sexuality, and everything to do with her complete lack of regard for the sanctity of human life.
