As many of you know, certainly if you follow me on Facebook and Twitter, I attended the MDCAN conference this weekend. It was exactly what I needed. Like many of my fellow conservative activists, I was a bit deflated after our defeat in November and succumbed to post-election depression for a few weeks. The conference was invigorating and encouraging, and I have much to blog about over the next couple days! I’m on my out the door to a family dinner, but this particular post couldn’t wait.
If you were following social media, especially the MDCAN hashtag, #TTT13, you heard talk of the protestors outside of our event. Some of my favorite Red Maryland guys went out and interviewed former Maryland House of Delegate, Saqib Ali, the organizer of the protest. You can see video of that exchange on the Red Maryland blog here.
After that interview, another exchange took place, and that’s what I wanted to highlight and share with you here. Brian Griffith‘s, representing Red Maryland and Andrew’s organization, Institute for Liberty were kind enough to buy pizza for our MDCAN protestors! When Andrew Langer posted this video on his Facebook, he made this powerful statement:
Because dissent is an essential part of liberty, we celebrate and support it. Because we love our fellow man, regardless of race or religion. Because the only way to have understanding is to engage and discuss…
Well said Andrew, well said, and well done!
