(The Other McCain) Were these United States not begun as a tax revolt? Was taxation without representation not a cause célèbre ~250 years ago? Are Congresses on about not binding future Congresses?
So what’s the big deal here? Why is it blatantly obvious to someone in their second year of life that binding future generations with a ridiculous tax burden is so fundamentally un-American as to hearken back to that crappy Parliament the Founders kicked to the curb a couple centuries back?
